Short and sweet
Hi Friends,
That describes both how this entry will be and how my visit with mom was today. It was a VERY busy first weekday at the new hospital building, and it seemed to last forever...so busy was it in fact that I wasn't able to sneak away at all to go see mom, and I was SO sad about it. :( I wanted to go see her so badly, but there was just never a dull moment where I could go on a break...needless to say, I am exhausted...I also have a splitting headache...there are lots of little kinks to work out when you move a hospital, and it takes a lot of energy to deal with everyone else's stress along with your own. Everyone was really great today, though...thanks South Side team! :) We're all trying to get our bearings, but it takes some getting used to.
Thank goodness Pam was off today and was able to spend some time with mom during the day...she's a lifesaver. It makes me feel SO much better to know that someone she knows and loves is able to visit her when I can't be there. Pam's off tomorrow too, and since I have to work again, she said she'd be able to go over again...I don't know what I'd do without my girls. Jillian and I headed over after work to visit tonight, and mom was dozing but woke up when we arrived. We just hung out with her for a bit, told her about our day, and asked her about hers. She doesn't always remember most of it, but that's okay...she will. Pam said she got a visit from the pet therapy dog today which she LOVED! I'm so happy about that! Wish I could have been there for that, but maybe he'll come again soon!
She is still having significant pain, and so her therapies were difficult today...they don't want to give her the pain medication too close to her therapies because it can make her sleepy and out of it, but at the same time the pain itself can make her much less tolerant of the therapies, so it's a catch-22. The urinalysis they sent off came back negative, which is very strange...I'm going to keep a close eye on things though, and see what develops over the next day or two, because I find it hard to understand what else could be causing her pain...I want to get to the bottom of it so we can treat and cure whatever is ailing her!
Okay, I really must go to bed before my head explodes. Wish us luck for a less crazy day tomorrow, and the time for a lunch break so I can visit mom during the day! Thanks for your continued love and support...it means the world to both of us! :)
