TGIF

Hi Friends,

I know I always say this (the girls were teasing me about it during dinner, as a matter of fact), but tonight's entry really will be very short. Got a call this morning from one of mom's doctors at RIC, giving me an update about new meds they wanted to start...Buspar for anxiety 5mg 3x/day (as she still has been having some anxiety issues during therapy, and she won't get as much out of the therapies as she can if she feels anxious and uncomfortable) and Flomax to help relieve the urinary retention she's been struggling with. Spoke with her main doctor and the unit's nurse practitioner this afternoon while I was there, and he seems much more pleased with her progress than last week when we had that awfully discouraging discussion...I mentioned the singing of songs and listening to music we did yesterday and how much she enjoyed it, and they put in an order for her for music therapy! :) So glad I mentioned it.

Arrived around 12:15pm to find mom already in the dining room with a tray...they had originally scheduled her meal for 1pm so she could eat with speech therapy, but they just put her in the "group meal," and she didn't do that great. She still doesn't really want to eat the food, but does better with drinking liquids. With everything that goes into her mouth she still makes a face as though it's really disgusting, even water when it's not really cold. Hopefully this will get better...they have now scheduled her for 3 meals a day, and I'm trying to be patient. After the meal, we just hung out until speech therapy, which she did really well with today, and then did some walking around and socializing. I had to go to work from 3:30-8pm...I'd like to do 4 hour shifts all the time! Went over after work with Jillian, and we just spent a very little while there because mom was sleeping when we got there and clearly was tired and needed to go back to sleep. Went to dinner with some of the girls, and then had a long discussion sitting in Suzi's van...and now I'm completely exhausted and must go to bed.
