Tooth be gone!
Hi Friends,
Well, I made it...through the oral surgery, that is. I am minus my last wisdom tooth, and doing okay. I had never been sedated with anesthesia before, so it was quite a strange experience for me. The last thing I remember is the surgeon asking me if I was ready, and then telling me to let him know when I "felt something." I remember wondering what I was supposed to be feeling, and then saying "Oh, okay, I'm feeling something now." Next thing I remember is them telling me to sit up slowly, and mom was there in the room (she hadn't come in with me for the procedure but was waiting in the waiting room, so they must have gone and gotten her...not sure if I requested this or not...I don't remember...weird). I walked to the waiting room very crookedly, and was in and out on the chair out there for awhile. The original plan was for my friend Suzi to pick us up after the appointment, but poor Suzi texted me very early this morning to let me know she'd been up all night with either food poisoning or the stomach flu and wouldn't be able to come. :( She ended up having to go to the ER for some IV fluids and meds! Poor thing! Luckily, my friend Elvia was also getting her wisdom tooth out this morning and her cousin was able to drop mom off at the Imperial and then bring me home. So we waited in the waiting room for Elvia's appointment to be over, which ended up being a good thing as I was still coming out of the anesthesia. I didn't feel any pain until I was almost home, and even then it wasn't too bad yet. Once I got home, I was a bit more awake so decided to walk to Walgreen's and fill my rx for Percocet. I spent the rest of the afternoon and evening napping and lying around...eating soft things like Spaghettios and ice cream and raspberries and Fig Newtons...all in all not a bad experience, just strange. I didn't get nervous until I was actually in the chair, right before they gave me the meds, and I panicked a little. But it didn't last long at all. Now if I can get through without getting a dry socket again like I did last time, I'll be good to go. What a relief that it's over!
Well, I'm feeling decidedly groggy again, so it's time for bed. Happy weekend! Thanks for your continued love and support. Peace to all.
