Maternal instinct

Hi Friends,

I guess I don't have to tell you it was another busy day at good ol' Prentice...no lunch break again, so no afternoon visit to mom, and that means I'm exhausted and won't write much. I got a message from mom's best friend Loyce early this afternoon saying she was in Chicago and on her way to visit mom!! I called her back but just got her voicemail, and I have not had a chance to call her again, so I'm not sure how long she was able to visit or how it was, but I'm very thankful to her for her visit...it's so wonderful for mom, especially because most of her friends live out of state so any visit from her friends are few and far between. And thank goodness Aunt Linda and Lilly were able to be there late this afternoon...they said they had a great visit! Mom had the day off therapy, or so she thought...but they did all kinds of fun things with her with her writing, colors, and even numbers, and they said she had a great time with it and did great! So she had some therapy after all, and I hear she was SO happy to see Aunt Linda...I wish I'd been able to be there for the reunion.

After work, I went over, and she was sleeping but I will fully admit that I kind of woke her up...don't be mad, but I couldn't go the whole day without talking to her and her knowing I was there. I just couldn't...I know, I know, completely selfish...but she's been sleeping so much better at night that I really think it was okay. Don't be mad. Anyway, we had a great visit and chatted about all kinds of things. When I was getting ready to leave, mom wanted to know how I was getting home...I told her I'd probably be taking the bus, but that if I had to wait too long, I'd take a cab. She wanted to give me some cash for a cab, and I gently told her that her purse wasn't there, that I had plenty of money and that she didn't need to worry about it. She finally stopped insisting, and she told me to get home safely...she even said I should "phone" her when I got home just so she knew I was safe. I told her she would probably be sleeping when I got home and I didn't want to wake her, but that I'd see her tomorrow. I wish she wouldn't worry so much, but I guess she IS my mom. ;) Wow...she IS my mom.

Amanda-
I am so glad that your Mom had such a great day! It makes me so sad that work is always so busy and you can't get over to see her. I am glad that you were able to spend some time with her last night and I loved the end of your entry!! Talk to you soon!
Love, Jillian
