Still up in the air

Hi Friends,

As you may surmise from the title, I still am in the dark as to what will happen as of Friday. I was not able to get in touch with the care manager covering for Dinh today (despite a call from Betty and from myself to have them call me with an update), so I don't know about whether her insurance has approved an extension of her stay at RIC until the date of surgery. Tonight when I was there, I had her nurse look in her chart to see if anyone had made any notes regarding this, and the only thing we found was a rounding note from the resident physician which stated her disposition plan as "discharge on 12/7 to St. Joseph's hospital for cranioplasty surgery, then to skilled nursing facility." That tells me that this is the plan as far as her care team is concerned, but not whether her insurance has approved this plan or not. It was of course after hours when I was able to visit tonight, so I'll track this woman down tomorrow and grill her as I don't have to work. Oi.

Pam was off work today and was able to visit mom for a couple hours! She brought along with her some fun Christmas decorations for mom's room, and they called me on the phone while I was at work to say hi...it's always so much fun to talk to her on the phone when I can't be there! :) They seemed to be having a good time, and though I haven't talked to Pam yet about the details of their visit, it sounded like it was fun. SO glad she was able to do that.

Okay, I'm tired, and looking forward to not having to get up tomorrow morning at the crack of dawn, and though I'm never able to sleep in these days (I just can't seem to stay asleep past 8:30am or so) it'll be nice to sleep a bit longer at least...much better than getting up at 5:30am! Please keep sending support and love...clearly this is an ongoing, frustrating process for which I need all the strength I can get, so anything you can send me will help! Peace to all.
