Frigid day
Hi Friends,
I always seem to pick the coldest days to take poor mom out! ;) Went to pick her up around 11:30am or so (had gotten a Zipcar again) and so we drove back to the parking spot and then walked to the apartment. On the way, she remarked on a few things she remembered about the street! One thing is this "garden" that she always loved to stop and look at outide someone's house...it has a blue spruce pine tree and some other exotic plants...needless to say, it's a little less impressive this time of year, but she recognized it nonetheless and stopped to look at it!
We had a great time just hanging out at the apartment...had a lunch of curried chicken salad lettuce wraps (homemade, thank you very much), chips, and cupcakes that sweet Suzi and her girls had dropped off last night for dessert. :) Then we just hung out, she loved on the kitties a lot and they loved on her, and we used her laptop to check her email...she does better with the email each time she does it...practice makes perfect! :) She read some blog entries from way back when, which was both interesting and sad for her...she continues to be amazed by what she has made it through.
Brought her back around 3:30pm or so...she of course once again wished she could just stay at the apartment, but she was okay. I made her lead the way back to where the Zipcar was parked, and she did with no hesitation! :) She's way more observant than any of us realize, I think, and remembers her neighborhood more than even she knew! We had a great time.
Used the birthday gift certificate for a massage from Natalie and Jennie finally today...it was great, and very relaxing...just what the doctor ordered. Then met Pam for dinner, and am now home with cold fingers and nose...it is quite cold in the apartment due to the below zero temps outside, so am trying to bury myself under blankets and have several layers on. Brrr.
