Mother's Day continued
Hi Friends,
Yep, that's right...a second entry in one day...I've got to make up for lost time! :) This one, rest assured, will be a short one. The rest of the afternoon was uneventful and relaxing, just what we needed. We spent some time looking through pictures and reminiscing...it sometimes amazes me how much mom actually remembers with some sort of stimulation, like photos. We went through our albums from our trip to Europe the summer after I graduated high school, and it blew me away everytime she'd point something out and recall some detail about it that I'd almost forgotten myself. Same thing with my college graduation pictures...she remembered some details I never thought she would. It's in there...it just needs to be brought out. :)
For dinner, we walked around the corner to Francesca's Italian restaurant...thank goodness the weather had gotten a little better by that time...it was no longer pouring, and the wind had died down a bit. We had a lovely meal, and a wonderful time. On the way back to the Imperial, mom called Grandma Zoe and wished her a Happy Mother's Day...she also got to talk briefly with Aunt Linda and Uncle Jack who were also still there from their afternoon family barbecue. Wish we could have been there. :( She and Aunt Linda discussed the novel mom has begun reading (all of her own accord I do believe) called "The Lovely Bones." It's actually one I've read before and enjoyed...and I was happily surprised to hear her describe the plot to Aunt Linda so accurately from memory...wow! And in fact, she was lying on her bed reading it when I arrived to pick her up this morning. :) I'm so pleased...I always tell her she needs to exercise her brain, and she is!
Okay, enough for tonight. Back to work tomorrow and Tuesday, and then my old college friend Emily arrives from California to spend a night with me before her job interview Wednesday in the hopes of moving back to Chicago! :) Can't wait to see her, it's been quite awhile! Thanks as always for your love and support. Peace.
