Adventures
Hi Friends,
It was a full, long day...very busy...I think it tired all of us out. Woke up to Betty giving the plants some TLC (I have a tendency to neglect the plants sometimes), and they are reviving well. :) Had some coffee, composed an email to Dinh, the social worker from RIC, to try to get some advice about discharge planning for mom, made the dreaded phone call to the new landlord to inquire about why I didn't yet have the keys to the new apartment, etc. Then got a Zipcar and zipped over to pick up mom and drove out to the office to pick up the keys as promised. Surprisingly they actually had them, and we headed up to the place to check it out. Parked in the garage where we came upon one of our new neighbors who seemed really nice...he was sweeping out the garage and admitted he was a clean freak...how could that possibly be a bad thing in a neighbor!? He told us he and his partner have two pugs, something mom was really excited about. Headed up to the apartment...though they had removed some of the junk from inside, there were still some things there...though they had painted, they hadn't done much cleaning...still some work to be done there. Later on, called the landlord to tell him this, and the plan is to go over Monday morning and meet with the maintenance guy who we'll show all the specifics that still need to be taken care of. Oy.
After checking out the apartment, we had lunch at a Mexican restaurant in the new neighborhood, and dessert at the bakery there. Then headed back to the old apartment and hung out...watched mom's show "Stop Kiss" on dvd and she reminisced. Also looked through some old picture albums from way back in the day...;) Then met Pam for dinner at an Italian place down the street...what a beautiful night it was, balmy and warm...it's supposed to rain tomorrow unfortunately, but we'll find something good to do I'm sure. Apparently this morning there was an earthquake whose epicenter was in southern Illinois, and according to the news, it could be felt in 16 states...from Nebraska to Atlanta! Unfortunately, we all slept through it...would have been kinda cool to feel it. ;) Off to bed now...more tomorrow on our adventures. Thanks for your continued love and support...peace to all.
