The best laid plans...

Hi Friends,

Well, today was fun but didn't go exactly as planned. After a bit of relaxation this morning and a special delivery from my friend Allison of some much-needed boxes for packing/moving, we headed over to get mom and then downtown to a movie...saw "21," about a group of MIT students led by their math professor who count cards in Vegas and make loads of money before they're eventually caught. Was entertaining, and of course mom's favorite, Kevin Spacey, was in it so that was a draw as well. :) Mom very much enjoyed the film and just the movie theatre experience in general. After the movie, we walked a bit downtown and stopped in a couple places including Cartier, where mom persuaded the saleswoman to let her try on a $19,500 ring and said to her "Well, I don't have the money on me, but do you have a payment plan?" "No, we would need it all up front." "Oh, well, I have money at home, I'll need to come back." Quite entertaining, but clear that her sense of money management is still an area that needs much work.

After the retail therapy, headed back up to the neighborhood where we got some ingredients for mom to make us dinner. Unfortunately, when we got back to the apartment, after only beginning the meal, she fell ill and was very nauseous to the point that she asked "to go back to the hospital." We were unable to persuade her to stay, and she truly did seem as though she were ill, so I brought her back where she went straight to bed. I think the combination of so much activity over the last few days, the excitement of having Betty here, and her mild sniffles and cold that she has were too much and overcame her. She tires easily, which is to be expected during recovery from TBI, and we haven't really given her much of a break these last few days. Hopefully with a nice long sleep tonight, she'll be feeling a bit better tomorrow...and we'll have a more relaxing day perhaps, with less activity. I needed to reassure myself as much as anyone...definitely some PTSD rearing its ugly head...so much worry, but it'd been awhile since I had a real meltdown, so it was about time I guess, eh?

Anyway, after I brought mom back to the palace, Betty and I ate the meal she'd finished preparing and then watched a Netflix DVD ("The Painted Veil"). Off to bed soon...hopefully I'll be able to sleep. Thanks all for your continued love and support. Peace.
