Happy BIrthday Bev!
Hi Friends,
Today's birthday celebration was great...a good time was had by all, and most importantly by the birthday girl herself. :) I made a run to a few stores to gather ingredients, and then picked mom up around 11am. We headed home and I began preparing the breakfast brunch in the new kitchen to christen it! I made fruit skewers with a coconut yogurt dip, a potato leek gruyere tart, and strawberry-stuffed french toast with pecans and caramel sauce, all recipes from Cooking Light magazine. Jillian and Brendan came, and we had a lovely meal altogether. Because it was so nice out, we took a walk down to the beach after brunch and sat by the water for a bit and talked. The wind picked up and it started getting a bit chilly, so we headed home after awhile, and Jillian and Brendan headed out. Mom and I hung out for awhile and cleaned up the dishes from brunch, and then I started making dinner. While I was cooking, Suzi and Julia stopped by to wish mom a Happy Birthday and bring her a gift, which was so sweet. For dinner, we had broiled trout (I was going to grill outside, but it began raining), pasta veggie salad, and asparagus spears. The dessert was mom's birthday cake of course, angel food cake with cream and fresh raspberries. All in all, a very yummy meal and much enjoyed by mom. :) We spent a great day together, and I think she truly enjoyed herself.
Am now just relaxing after having cleaned up, and will watch my Netflix DVD before heading to bed..."Sherrybaby." I've heard it's good, so I hope it captures my attention. Thanks for all your continued love and support. Peace.
